“The food you eat can either be the safest & most powerful form of medicine or the slowest form of poison” – Ann Wigmore
The Nordic Nutritionist approach is not to dwell on calories, carbs, fats, proteins or to create lists of restrictions of good and bad foods. Instead, it is to work with clients to create a roadmap to their health that guides them to a balanced, agony free and a happy lifestyle.
Why do optimal nutrition and healthy eating habits matter?
Our society and health care system are facing serious problems due to increased obesity rates both for men and women, aging population, super bugs and numerous other lifestyle-related diseases that requires medical care. The NHS is at a breaking point and the quality of medical treatments has collapsed due to lack of staff, time and money. Treating obesity-related diseases, such as diabetes, costs billions to the NHS annually. I strongly believe that by educating people about the health risks of fast foods, poor food choices and the consequences of an inactive lifestyle, many of us would make changes to their lifestyle and it would likely have a positive impact on the current crisis.
Knowing how powerful of a tool nutrition can be in illness prevention and care, I think that people should be encouraged to take more responsibility in their own health, and it should not be a government burden.
In today’s society, it seems more and more difficult to find the right foods to eat. One day a certain diet is praised for how amazing it is and how amazing the results are, the next day experts are suggesting that it may be dangerous and does not meet nutritional requirements. Just considering the many different opinions about the consumption of protein, antioxidants, carbohydrates, and fats, you may not have a clue anymore as to what you can safely put on your plate.
One of the benefits of using a Nutritional Therapist is that they do not only eat healthily themselves, but they also observe different results in different clients. As a health professional, I am concerned about your overall health, not in pushing a specific diet, cookbook or product.
I understand that people are frustrated by contradictory advice and my services focus a lot on understanding the real facts of a healthy body and mind and separating this from fiction. Also, I want to find out what is really your main health concern to be able to solve issues that may have caused stress or imbalance for years. However, Nutritional Therapy isn´t just about food and supplements, it is a client- therapist relationship and my role is to be your motivator & advisor, whenever you need support to reach the goals.
