Nutritionist Sonia Wahlroos

I am a Finnish born Nutritional Therapist, specializing in Women’s Health, Fertility, Sport and Exercise Nutrition. I have a strong background in sports and I have been teaching different body and mind methods for over a decade.

I am a foodie with a relaxed attitude towards eating. My personal diet follows the 80/20 rule, which means that I try to consume healthy, nutritious foods 80% of the day, but I also allow some flexibility and occasional treats to my diet. However, I don’t spend hours in the kitchen and I don’t expect my clients to do so either.

My food philosophy focuses on good ingredients, simple cooking methods and variety of foods. Moreover, I often remind my clients that I am not a food blogger - I am a nutritional therapist - whose main goal is to help you overcome your health concerns or illnesses, and that includes much more than providing super food smoothie or gluten free bread recipes.

Women’s health issues started to interest me when I managed to heal my own hormonal related problems through diet and lifestyle changes. After going through pregnancy, delivery and the post-natal period, I can strongly relate to women and new mothers, understanding how hard it is to look after yourself and eat well, as it always tends to be kids and family first. For that reason, my main mission is to offer services that are effective, manageable and fuss-free, no matter how busy your lifestyle is.

My approach is not to dwell on calories, carbs, fats, proteins or to create lists of restrictions of good and bad foods. Instead, it is to work with clients to create a roadmap to their health that guides them to a balanced, agony free and a happy lifestyle.

One of the benefits of using a Nutritional Therapist is that they do not only eat healthily themselves, but they also observe different results in different clients. As a health professional, I am concerned about your overall health, not in pushing a specific diet, cookbook or product.

    Sonia gave me lots of good advice...

    When I contacted Sonia springtime 2014 I felt tired and unmotivated to take good care of my body. I was hoping to get pregnant in the near future and wanted to prepare my body for a healthy pregnancy.

    Sonia was really good and knowledgeable and she guided me in the right direction with eating. She gave me lots of good advice, recipes and even came food shopping to our local food store with me to show what products to buy and what products to avoid.

    She suggested me the right vitamins that would be good for women in general and for a possible future pregnancy. The supplements kept me more energized during workdays and I was able to make healthier food choices as a result. Sonia also guided me in the right direction with exercise to support a healthy balanced lifestyle.
